The King's Daughter - Psalm 45:6-15

Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.
Thou lovest righteousness and hatest wickedness: therefore, God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
All thy garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.
King's daughters were among thy honourable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;
So shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him.
And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall entreat thy favour.
The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold.
She shall be brought unto the king in rainment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee.
With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.

To my daughter,

The Lord once told me, "Walk like a queen."  And so I am endeavouring to learn exactly what that is. The Holy Spirit is leading and guiding me down that path. So now, my daughter,  I write you as one. You are part of a royal family. And holding such a place of honor carries with it responsibilites. Your King, has paid the highest price to ransom you from certain death. The price for your release was His only Son's blood. His Son, the apple of His eye, was tortured and put to a gruesome death that you might live. This is not a fairy tale - this is Truth. Do we not owe Him our gratitude and allegiance?  "King's daughters were among thy honourable women."  Do we not owe Him a life given over to honour? "The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold."  Your are called to be wedded to a coming King. Will He find you ready and waiting dressed in golden purity with light in your eyes? Or will He marry someone else, because you left Him alone at the altar?  You were born my daughter for greatness and to be a light to the daughters of men. I once told you that you were an Esther to your generation. I still believe that. I am praying for you  and believe that my heart will be filled with joy as I watch you fulfill your destiny.

Light and Truth - Psalm 43:3-5

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Then will I go unto the altar of God, unto God my God.  Why art thou cast down, O my soul?  and why art thou disquieted within me?  hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

In the midst of life's battles the Word of God is like a flare that leads us to victory. There is a pop in our spirit and then an effusion of Light illuminates the darkness. Courage and relief flood our soul as the living Word glows on the horizon of our consciousness.  Victory is near.
When God's presence seems shrouded in obscurity and past feeling, my heart cries, "Send out Thy Light and Thy Truth: let them lead me; let them bring me to thy holy hill..." Then as I read His living Words, I hear a still small voice deep within saying softly,"This is the way. Walk ye in it."

Yet Praise Him - Psalm 42:6-7

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me?  Hope thou in God; for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance. O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill of Mizar.  Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of they waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

There are times of desperation when God seems distant and all seems lost.  It is at times like these that I step out of my self and speak to my soul.

"Why are you disquieted my soul. Hope in your God! You will yet praise Him for the help of his                 presence.  Even though you don't feel Him 'yet'  - praise Him. Even though you don't see victory 'yet' - praise Him. Even though your circumstances have not changed 'yet' - praise Him.   I will remember You, O God, and all you have rescued me from.  In the midst of a raging sea, deep within me reaches out to deep within You. Though waves of emotion wash over me, You will command your lovingkindness to carry me by day and your song shall be with me in the darkness as I pray to the God of my life. I will yet praise Him."

Unbridled Heart - Psalm 40: 5-8

Many, O Lord, my God, are they wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee:  if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.  Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offerings and sin offering hast thou not required.  Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

O Lord, my God - the beginning of a real relationship with God starts with these 2 titles. A king lives in the kingdom which he rules and so the kingdom of God within begins with a surrendered heart. He must be our Lord before He can be our saviour.  But His is not a kingdom of harsh and bitter servitude. His thoughts are toward us and more than can be numbered. Like a beloved child is always on the heart of their parent, so we are always on his mind. Sacrifice and religious activites are not what he really desires nor has He required us to do pentance. What He really desires is simply for us to "come,"  to come and be with Him with an unbridled heart that delights to follow His.

O Lord, my God, I come. Engrave your Words upon my heart.

Anger Management - Psalm 37:7-11

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.  Cease from anger, forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil. For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the Lord, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be.  But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

What can stand before rage unruffled? What can stand before rebellion without fear? What can abide like an anchor in the midst of chaos? The answer is one of God's great paradoxes. Francis Frangipane put it beautifully in his book Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God when he said, "The holiest, most powerful voice that ever spoke described Himself as 'meek and lowly of heart." Meekness is the secret to mightiness.  Meekiness is not an insipid inferiority complex.  Meekness is a total relinquishment of my ability and my inability in a situation and utter dependence upon the power of God to intervene.  Meekiness is a leap of faith that says, "He is truly the God who sees in secret and He will reward me openly," eventually.  Meekiness is taking matters out of my hands and putting them into His. It is in this repositioning of myself under the shadow of the Almighty that I become invincible.

Holy Intent - Psalm 27:8

When thou saidst seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee,  Thy face, Lord, will I seek.

There is a vast difference between seeking God and studying or writing about His Word. Though one may involve the other,  one without the other will be fruitless. Meerly reading the Word is a working of the mind, but holy intent is a yearning from the heart. Holy intent is deep calling unto Deep. Holy intent is what ushers us into the Presence of the Living God who brings His Words to life. These are the Words that come from the mouth of God and not bread alone.  Seeking the face of God over  meerly learning about Him is what brings power and passion in our lives.

Lord, like the deer pants for water. So my soul pants for You.
Lead me to Your springs of Living Water.

Fountain of Life - Psalm 36: 5-9

Thy mercy, O Lord is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.
Thy righteosness is like the great mountains; thy judgements are a great deep; O Lord, thou preserveth man and beast.
How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust in the shadow of  thy wings.
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
For with thee is the fountain of life: and in thy light we see light.

Lord, the beauty of the earth reflects your glory.  It's at once profound and peaceful and filled with awe.      These verses describe the bounty of a life who finds it's source in God. When taken as a whole the Psalm depicts a life without God and one with God and ends with David pleading that God would keep Him in His way. And so this is my prayer today. Lord lead me in Your ways. May I live in Your house, may I drink from your river of delights and may your fountain of living water stream from me today. Like an artesian well springing from the mountain of God, may your light, life and love flow out to the thirsty.
